The True Essence of Witchcraft is transformation. The idea is to take the "you" currently present and accounted for and change your essence into something better, greater, stronger and incredibly dynamic. Being a Witch means to want to work every day to be a better person. When you change yourself, then the world around you cannot help but change. Like i once heard in a commercial, "once the mental weight falls off, the physical weight will just disappear" There's no getting around it. All this changing can be a lot of hard work and there are certain aspects of the path that require time, effort, and energy. Although many of the things you truly want can be achieved in a short time with the techniques, other things require patience, effort, and practice to reach your ultimate goals. That's okay. If you didn't have to work at some things, then the study wouldn't seem worthwhile. To be a Witch, you must be brave enough to face everything inside of you, and have the courage to change the things you do not like. Being a Witch has nothing to do with spells, rituals, and unusual clothing-thats the fun stuff. To be a Witch is to desire personal transformation.Always striving to be better๐๐๐๐ that personal transformation is called Magnus Opus, or Great Work. This Great work is essentially your spiritual rebirth and has two parts: learning to become a spiritual person, and then using what you have learned to effect change in the world, and in witchcraft is just a process, and in the craft you are expected to learn mastery over chaos (and it does takes time). This chaos in alchemy is called prima materia, meaning "first matter." It is the essence from whence all things were born, and is the raw material from which you can create anything. It is the material of the mind. It is thought itself. It is the cosmic sea, the subquantum level. The second part of the Great Work involves taking that thought (or chaos) and fine-tuning it inward(breaking generational curses or patterns)to create a pure body of light your spiritual rebirth, from which you can transform yourself and the world around you.
When a Witch Draws Down the Moon, they are taking part in an ancient alchemical ceremony geared to create change from within that will, in turn, change things without to match the Witch's desire. If the desire is not pure, then the process is fouled.
Studying alchemy (magick)does require tons of practice, and slowly working through several mental and physical purifying steps to reach a specific goal. Some of those Esoteric alchemical studies include breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, reading auras, astral projection, psychome try, telepathy, remote viewing, and more. Which we will get to later on.
